In this interview, Qi Wang, the founder and chairman of Beijing AT&M BIOMATERIALS Co., Ltd., shares her unique journey from observing healthcare through her grandfather’s medical career to pioneering advancements in dental restorative materials. With a background in finance and neurolinguistics, Wang’s cross-sector expertise has shaped her multi-dimensional approach to business and innovation.

Q: Did that exposure to healthcare influence your career path?

A: Surprisingly, no. I initially studied economics and began my career in finance and management. I developed a strong reputation across various sectors as a sharp operator. But over time, my work brought me back to healthcare. Each project in that space sparked something deeper. Eventually, I stopped observing from the outside and stepped in.

Q: How has your cross-sector experience contributed to your role in healthcare?

A: My path wasn’t a detour—it was a foundation. In finance, I gained expertise in risk management and capital flow. Through my studies in neurolinguistics, I deepened my understanding of patient needs. Cross-sector experience fosters multi-dimensional thinking. Each field has its own operational model and market logic. Exposure to all of them helped me develop a more nuanced and integrated commercial perspective.

Q: Tell us about Beijing AT&M BIOMATERIALS Co., Ltd. and its role in the global market.

A: I am the founder and chairman of Beijing AT&M BIOMATERIALS Co., Ltd., an enterprise specializing in advanced dental restorative materials. In a global market long dominated by Western and Japanese giants, we strive to prove that a Chinese company, rooted in strong research and global compliance, can not only compete but also emerge as a key player.

Q: What is your approach to product quality and regulatory compliance?

A: I firmly believe that our products should meet the same standards of safety, precision, and reliability as leading global brands. In a field where precision is paramount, I view regulatory rigor not as a burden but as a key factor that sets us apart.

Q: How has Beijing AT&M BIOMATERIALS Co., Ltd. expanded its reach?

A: Under the mission of “contributing to human oral health,” our company has grown into a globally oriented enterprise with an established international footprint. We have developed a portfolio of restorative products, including amalgam capsules, composite resins, dental adhesives, and etching agents used in tooth restoration, root surface protection, and preventive oral treatments. Our company is certified under both ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 medical device quality management systems, and our products have received CFDA and CE approvals. Today, we export to more than 100 countries and are trusted by dental practitioners, with a reported low patient complaint rate since launch.

Q: What distinguishes Beijing AT&M BIOMATERIALS Co., Ltd. from its competitors?

A: The depth of our R&D plays a significant role in differentiating us. We collaborate with premier institutions such as Peking University School of Stomatology and West China Medical Center of Sichuan University. We also operate multiple labs, including an Oral Polymer Materials Engineering Laboratory and a Medical Metal Instruments and Digital Dentistry Laboratory. In 2022, our laser-guided dental implant robot system, developed in collaboration with Peking University, was recognized by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a notable innovation.

Q: What is your vision for the future of the company?

A: My vision is to help make advanced dental care accessible not just domestically, but globally. We recently moved into a new production facility to scale automated manufacturing and are exploring opportunities to establish local offices in Japan and the U.S. We want to contribute to the shift from “Made in China” to “Created in China.”

Q: What drives you as a leader in this industry?

A: Behind the enterprise is a philosophy that blends ambition with responsibility. I envision a company that not only excels in innovation but also contributes to new standards in global healthcare. Our journey is a reflection of more than entrepreneurial success—it represents a synthesis of disciplines, industries, and generations, helping to shape what leadership looks like in the next wave of industrial innovation.
