In Die-Mentions: The 12 Dimensions of God by James Allen, readers are invited to examine how science and faith might illuminate life, death, and the possibility of existence beyond our physical world. Through a careful blend of biblical teachings, scientific principles, and personal reflections.

The Unending Nature of Life’s Energy

James Allen anchors his ideas in a well-known scientific rule, the Law of Conservation of Energy: energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. He connects this to the human spirit, proposing that the life within us may persist after death in a new form.
Quoting Genesis 2:7, Allen writes that God “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being,” implying that this divine spark might endure beyond the body. He argues that our energy could shift to a higher state when we die, much like light changing as it passes through a prism.

This view offers hope to those pondering the afterlife. Allen suggests that our essence does not vanish but possibly moves to a realm where it continues to grow in God’s presence. By linking this scientific law with spiritual beliefs, he provides a logical and uplifting framework. Higher Dimensions and Human Limits

Allen introduces the concept of dimensions to explain realities beyond what we can perceive. He compares humans to creatures in a flat, two-dimensional world, unable to grasp the fullness of a three-dimensional space.

“Just as a fish cannot see the sky above the water,” he writes, “we may be blind to higher dimensions around us.” He supports this with scripture, such as 2 Corinthians 12:2, where Paul speaks of a man caught up to “the third heaven,” hinting at multiple realms beyond our own.

He also nods to science, mentioning theories that propose up to 11 dimensions to explain the universe’s structure. Allen suggests that what Christians call heaven could be one of these higher dimensions, where our spirits reside after leaving the body. This idea invites readers to imagine a universe far grander than our everyday experience, where God’s plan unfolds in ways we may not fully understand.

Insights from Near-Death Experiences

Near-death experiences (NDEs) play a significant role in Allen’s exploration, offering accounts of what might await us. He shares stories of people who, after facing death, describe encounters with radiant light and overwhelming peace.

One woman, nearly lost to drowning, recalled, “I was surrounded by a love so pure it felt like home,” an experience that appears to have changed her life. Allen notes that these stories often include a “life review,” where individuals relive their actions through others’ eyes, learning the lasting impact of kindness.

He ties these experiences to scripture, quoting 1 John 4:8, “God is love,” to suggest that the love felt in NDEs reflects God’s true nature. For Allen, these moments may reveal a glimpse of higher dimensions, where time feels different, and communication happens without words.

Divine Love as Life’s Purpose

Love stands at the heart of Allen’s message, described as the force that binds all existence. He emphasizes that divine love, or agape, shapes our lives on Earth and our future in higher realms.

Referencing 1 Corinthians 13:13, he reminds readers that “the greatest of these is love,” suggesting that acts of care and compassion can carry eternal value. In near-death experiences, people often describe a strong love that redefines their priorities, aligning with Allen’s view that love helps prepare us for eternity.

He encourages readers to focus on small, everyday acts—helping a stranger, listening to a friend—as steps toward spiritual growth. “Every kind word is a seed planted for eternity,” Allen writes, urging us to live with intention.

The Bible as a Map to Hidden Realms

Allen presents the Bible as a guide to understanding realities we cannot see. He points to moments where divine presence breaks into the world, like the bright light at Jesus’ transfiguration in Luke 9:29, where “his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.” These events, he argues, show higher dimensions touching our own, revealing God’s power in ways that defy ordinary limits.

He also connects this to scientific ideas, noting that some theories suggest hidden dimensions exist within the universe which are too small for us to notice. By reading scripture with this in mind, Allen sees stories like Elijah’s visions or Jesus’ appearances after resurrection as evidence of a multi-layered reality.
