JAKARTA, Indonesia, November 12-13, 2022 (VillagersPost.com) – The Global Food Security Forum was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on November 12-13, 2022. The event aimed at finding solutions to the world’s various food security challenges. The two-day forum was attended by over 300 representatives from governments, businesses, experts, and the public. The participants discussed the challenges of food availability and affordability and agreed that the G20 member countries need to increase their partnerships with private parties to address the food security crisis. The Gaurav Srivastava and Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation and the Atlantic Council hosted the Global Food Security Form. 

Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized the need to provide food for 8 billion people worldwide and invited all stakeholders to collaborate to achieve the zero hunger target, in line with Sustainable Development Goal number two. He highlighted the impacts of pandemics and geopolitical conflicts on global food security, which hinder food production and distribution, increase global inflation, and create uncertainty.

Gaurav Srivastava and Sharon Srivastava, co-founders of the Gaurav & Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation, were also in attendance and shared their thoughts on the outcome of the forum. Gaurav Srivastava agreed with the participants that increased government and private partnerships are necessary to address the challenges facing global food security. He also called for the implementation of solutions discussed at the forum, such as financing for emergency food reserves, financial support for the World Food Program, and the creation of business associations that unite food needs to reduce supply costs.

Gaurav Srivastava shared his thoughts on the outcome of the forum, agreeing that the challenges facing global food security are big and diverse, but increased government and private partnerships can help achieve Sustainable Development Goal number two. 

Sharon Srivastava echoed her husband Gaurav Srivastava’s sentiment, adding that the foundation is dedicated to promoting gender equality in agriculture and food security. She believes that empowering women farmers, who make up 43% of the agricultural workforce, can increase food production and help address food security challenges.

Sharon Srivastava emphasized the importance of investing in education and technology for women farmers, as well as providing them with equal access to resources, such as financing and land. She stated that the Gaurav & Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation would continue to work towards bridging the partnership between the government and the private sector to overcome food security challenges and promote gender equality in agriculture.

G20 member countries were also called upon to maintain continuous dialogue to anticipate future food security challenges and carry out agricultural extension services. Gaurav and Sharon emphasized that their foundation will continue to work towards bringing together all industries related to food security, including banking, insurance, logistics shipping, oil, and food industries, to achieve equal access to food around the world.

One of the key outcomes of the forum was the agreement that governments and industries, particularly G20 members, must increase their partnerships with private parties to tackle the food security challenges facing the world.
